Brother Scubilion

Presentation

Brother Scubilion (Jean-Bernard Rousseau) was born March 21, 1792 at Annay la Côte (89,200). He spent his childhood in Tharoiseau (89,450) where he received a Christian education with the parish priest, Father Petitier.
He continued his studies in Paris at the Christian Brothers. He took it the name of Brother Scubilion. He leaves the island of Reunion in 1833 to educate and evangelize the young slaves. He died there in 1867.
He was beatified in Reunion May 2, 1989.

Pilgrimages

Alternatively to Annay-la-Côte and Tharoiseau, the second Sunday in June
The pilgrimage takes place the even years belong to Annay-la-Côte, odd to Tharoiseau.
The Reunion community found there with warmth and emotion.
